Chirk and the Ceiriog valley is a very
under used area for walking. The whole area is outstanding and you
cannot fail to find a walk that suits your fitness level, or time
constraints.
Many people visiting the area do some walking, even if only across the
Aqueduct between England and Wales. Lots also pass through the area on
the Maelor Way or Offa’s Dyke long distance paths. There is far more
variation than these all the way from Chirk down to Llanarmon D.C. and
either side of the Ceiriog valley.
People in the area will tell you how walking the same route throughout
the year will make different impressions due to the solitude, weather,
or a tremendous sunset over miles of unbroken views. One side of a hill
could show you the whole Shropshire and Marches scenery. A mile away in
a different panorama is the Cheshire plain, or the Berwyn Mountains and
beyond.
Use the link below to access the Ceiriog partnership site where many
routes are available for you to download and enjoy. There are also
details on the Ramblers guided walks in the area some from local railway
stations.
